TENCEL™ Lyocell

For most of the Spring Summer collection garments and (for coherence) for their stitchings, Zummy uses TENCEL™ Lyocell, a vegetable fibre (mainly from eucalyptus) from responsibly managed forests, the concept being coherence of materials. The yarn is Lenzing, a brand dear to those care about the Planet: with its industry-specific ethical code and its use of renewable raw materials, Lenzing is in fact a byword for sustainability and green conscience worldwide. TENCEL™is a trademark of Lenzing AG.

Organic Cotton

For the garments that are made in cotton Zummy uses also cotton yarns for the stitchings, on a design coherence perspective and in order to make the recycle easier at the end of the product's life. Zummy chose to use organic cotton, certified following one of the most important certifications for sustainability in the fashion industry, cultivated without pesticides and in the respect of specific environmental and social standards along the entire production chain.

Buttons in recycled hemp and recycled polyester

For its trousers and pantskirts, Zummy decided to use buttons made of recycled hemp and recycled polyester, from a supplier who has joined Greenpeace’s DETOX campaign and therefore commits to eliminating from its production processes chemical substances hazardous for human health and the environment.

Certified Inks

Zummy is a world of colors, so it’s vitally important that their printing ensures a high level of sustainability. We therefore selected suppliers that work with this philosophy in mind: for printing Tencel Lyocell and cotton fabrics, the print house uses inks that don’t release chemical substances hazardous for our health, whose production follows itself strict environmental and social standards. On this perspective, the print house also reuses some of the water already used in its printing processes. As for polyester fabrics, the print house obtained one of the most important certifications for the respect of environmental and social criteria in that specific printing process.

Labels in certified organic cotton and recycled polyester

We at Zummy decided to keep a strong commitment to coherence in the design process and in the combination of materials: we use certified organic cotton labels on garments made of natural fabrics and recycled polyester labels on garments made of recycled polyester. A preference that boosts the value of the product and demonstrates effective application of the criteria of eco-sustainable clothing, aiming to facilitate the recycling of the product at the end of its life within a circular economy perspective.

e-commerce Packaging

Zummy clothing products reach the consumer in primary packaging made of recycled paper. The shipment box is made of recycled fibres and virgin fibres from responsibly managed forests to better withstand impact during shipment. The companies that make all Zummy’s branded packaging (large and small boxes) are certified ISO 14001, which is a voluntary certification showing that an organization has a management system capable of monitoring and improving the environmental impacts of its business. The Zummy branded tags (made by a company that supports Greenpeace’s Detox campaign), their cords and the band wrapping the garment are made of recycled paper, thus promoting parsimonious use of natural resources in the interests of circular economy and easier recycling at the end of product use. The adhesive tape is made of paper with a natural rubber adhesive and can be recycled along with the shipment boxes it’s used on.
